EAD Engineering is looking for an Assistant Process Engineer for projects in industrial and processing facilities. The Assistant Process Engineer supports the design, documentation, verification, and coordination of safe, reliable, and buildable process designs. This role builds the technical foundation, field skills, analytical capabilities, and client-facing experience needed for professional licensure while contributing to accurate work that meets project scope, schedule, budget, applicable codes, accepted engineering practices, and EAD standards. Responsibilities Prepare drawings, specifications, calculations, charts and graphs, and monitor work for compliance to applicable codes, accepted engineering practices and EAD standards Develop process heat and material balances and perform foundational process design calculations under the direction of experienced engineers Develop coordinated process engineering documentation, including Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), equipment data sheets, calculations, and supporting design documentation Develop proficiency in EAD process design, PFD and P&ID, documentation, and quality standards Communicate with process equipment vendors Participate in field verification, measurement, and documentation activities Consult on environmental compliance issues and permitting Participate in discipline-specific and company-wide business development Interface with clients, vendors, construction administrators and project team Perform and document technical design reviews with other disciplines on the project team to produce the highest level of quality Responsible for adhering to all EAD's safety standards and practices Perform other related duties as assigned
Requirements:
B.S. Degree in Chemical Engineering from an accredited institution Knowledge of process engineering fundamentals Commitment to obtain EIT certification within the first 12 months of employment Commitment to progress toward Professional Engineer licensure Possess organizational skills Excellent written and verbal communication skills with clients, vendors and in-house staff Proficient with Excel spreadsheets including macros Ability to troubleshoot processoperational problems and provide solutions Self-starter with strong attention to detail Possess and able to maintain a valid driver's license Proficient in
Microsoft Office Preferred Certification and Skills:
Prior process engineering experience from a Co-op or internship preferred Experience with Aspen or CHEMCAD process simulation software preferred AutoCAD experience a plus
Working Conditions:
Office, plant, or client site environment
  • Ability to sit and work at computer for extended periods of time Ability to walk up numerous flights of stairs/ladders multiple times a day and/or work in tight spaces in extreme conditions May work near moving mechanical parts and equipment
  • Office, Commercial and/or Industrial setting with the potential of exposure to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.
  • Periodic weekend, holiday or evening work as needed Travel required EAD will provide training, administrative/engineering controls, and personal protective equipment as necessary.
