For more information, visit cree-led.com . Job Overview Cree LED is looking to add a Process Development Engineer to our Product Engineering group in Raleigh/Durham, NC. As a member of the Cree LED Engineering team, you will support the development and improvement of LED products and processes from early development through transfer into high-volume manufacturing. In this role, you will help run engineering experiments, analyze process and product data, troubleshoot technical issues, and work with cross-functional teams to improve manufacturability, yield, quality, and performance. This position is a good fit for a hands-on engineer who enjoys solving technical problems, learning new processes, and supporting the successful launch and scale-up of next-generation LED components. Responsibilities Support the development, improvement, and transfer of LED products and manufacturing processes into high-volume production. Assist with engineering experiments, process trials, data collection, and analysis to evaluate process capability, product performance, yield, and manufacturability. Troubleshoot process, product, yield, or quality issues using hands-on investigation, data analysis, and practical engineering problem solving. Work with engineers and cross-functional partners to identify root causes, recommend improvements, and implement corrective actions. Support new product development activities from prototype builds through qualification and manufacturing release. Coordinate activities with cross-functional teams, including R D, Manufacturing, Purchasing, Facilities, Applications, Marketing, and Quality. Document experimental results, process changes, technical findings, and recommended next steps. Contribute to continuous improvement efforts that support product quality, reliability, cost, and manufacturing efficiency. Play a key role in supporting the development of next-generation LED components. Qualifications BS or MS in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Applied Physics, Mechanical Engineering, or another relevant engineering or physical science discipline. 2-5 years of experience in process development, manufacturing engineering, product engineering, semiconductor processing, LED technology, or a related technical environment. Ability to collect and analyze technical data, interpret results, and support data-driven recommendations. Strong hands-on problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot technical issues in a development or manufacturing environment. Ability to work independently with general guidance and escalate issues or risks when appropriate. Strong communication and documentation skills. Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams. Willing to work outside the scope of normal job duties and past experience. Willing and able to travel outside the United States, if required. Location Durham, NC Travel None Compensation & Benefits The base pay range that the Company reasonably expects to pay for this position in North Carolina is $78,300-$97,900; the pay ultimately offered may vary based on business considerations, including job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and education. The position is bonus-eligible, and there are medical, dental, and vision benefits available. There is a 401k saving plan and other benefits, such as Paid Time Off, Life Insurance, and an Employee Assistance Plan.
