  • Full-time Chemical Engineer Position Summary The Chemical Engineer designs, models, and optimizes chemical and thermodynamic processes that drive the company's core products.
This role applies process engineering fundamentals — mass and energy balances, heat and mass transfer, separation processes, and reaction engineering — to develop efficient, scalable, and manufacturable systems. The Chemical Engineer works across the full product lifecycle, from process simulation and bench-scale prototyping through pilot testing, scale-up, and production support, partnering closely with mechanical, controls, and manufacturing teams. Key ResponsibilitiesProcess Design & Modeling Develop and maintain process flow diagrams (PFDs), piping & instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), and mass/energy balances Build process simulations using ChemCAD , Aspen Plus, Aspen HYSYS, or equivalent tools Create and maintain 3D models, layouts, and equipment assemblies in SolidWorks Model thermodynamic cycles, heat exchangers, and separation processes Perform equipment sizing and specification for heat exchangers, pumps, blowers, columns, tanks, and separation units Conduct parametric studies and sensitivity analyses to optimize process performance, efficiency, and cost Prototyping & Experimentation Design and execute bench-scale and pilot-scale experiments to validate process models Develop and operate test fixtures, data acquisition systems, and instrumentation for process characterization Analyze experimental data, identify discrepancies between model and reality, and iterate on designs Perform root-cause analysis on process performance issues and drive corrective action Materials, Chemistry & Fluids Select and evaluate working fluids, refrigerants, and other process media Assess material compatibility, corrosion, and degradation in process environments Characterize physical and chemical properties relevant to process performance (psychrometrics, phase equilibria, transport properties) Support regulatory, environmental, and safety evaluations for chemicals used in products Scale-Up & Manufacturing Support Translate lab
  • and pilot-scale results into production-ready process designs Partner with mechanical and controls engineers on system integration and hardware design Support manufacturing ramp-up, commissioning, and troubleshooting of production units Develop standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and process documentation Drive cost-reduction, efficiency, and yield-improvement initiatives Cross-Functional Collaboration Work with R D on next-generation process concepts and technology roadmaps Partner with product and systems engineering to align process performance with customer requirements Collaborate with quality and reliability teams on testing, validation, and field performance Document designs, decisions, and learnings for internal knowledge management Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or related field 4+ years of process engineering experience in a product development, R D, or manufacturing environment Strong fundamentals in thermodynamics, heat and mass transfer, fluid mechanics, and separation processes Proficiency in ChemCAD (or comparable process simulation software such as Aspen Plus or HYSYS) Proficiency in SolidWorks for 3D modeling, assemblies, and engineering drawings Experience with property libraries and physical property modeling (e.
g., CoolProp, REFPROP, NIST data) Strong data analysis skills (Excel, Python, MATLAB, or similar) Hands-on experience with laboratory or pilot-scale process equipment Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills Preferred Qualifications Master's or Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering or related discipline Experience with HVAC, refrigeration, or dehumidification systems Experience with vapor-compression cycles, heat pumps, and psychrometric analysis Familiarity with CFD tools (ANSYS Fluent, COMSOL, OpenFOAM) for process-level simulations Experience with PLC-controlled systems, industrial instrumentation, and IoT-enabled process hardware Exposure to ruggedized, field-deployable, or military/expeditionary systems Knowledge of safety and regulatory frameworks (PSM, OSHA, EPA, ASHRAE) relevant to process equipment Experience in startup or high-growth manufacturing environments Compensation & Benefits Competitive base salary commensurate with experience Performance-based bonus Equity participation (if applicable) Health, dental, and vision insurance Paid time off and holidays Professional development and continuing education support
