Job Description

AVANTech is a US based engineering solutions provider with over 25 years of experience in the design and fabrication of complex process systems for critical applications. As an NQA-1 qualified fabrication facility, AVANTech delivers fully integrated, high-performance systems, both patented and custom engineered, to meet the rigorous standards of the government, commercial, industrial, energy, and nuclear sectors. With deep expertise in engineered design and advanced manufacturing, AVANTech operates facilities in South Carolina, Tennessee, and Washington, supporting projects in more than 15 countries worldwide.
Who You Are:
The successful Chemical Process Engineer will help AVANTech design and implement water treatment projects in the government and commercial nuclear sectors. It is a stimulating role that will require detailed design, testing, and on-site start-ups of a variety of water and contaminated effluent conditioning systems. The role requires initiative to constantly learn about new technologies and innovate creative ways of solving complex problems. As a Chemical Engineer , you'll have an opportunity to work beside your peers developing creative solutions, while being mentored by industry-leading experts in their field. The current role is envisioned for a Chemical Engineer with 2-5 years of experience, but more senior candidates are also encouraged to apply. A Day in the
Life:
Prepares process flow diagrams (PFDs), material and energy balances (MEBs) and piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs) Performs detailed sizing calculations and select process components (pumps, control valves, instruments, consumables, etc) Relay process design and closely collaborate with the mechanical and electrical engineering groups Develops analyses, test protocols, and reports to demonstrate designs perform and required functions Supports fabrication activities by providing engineering feedback Work in person full time in the Columbia, SC or Richland, WA office and will relocate to the area, if necessary
Qualifications:
B.S. in Chemical or Environmental Engineering from an accredited university 2 - 5 years of similar industry experience Demonstrated ability to analyze/understand basic chemical engineering documentation (e.g. mass/energy balances, process flow diagrams, piping and instrumentation diagrams, equipment drawings, etc) Excellent oral and written communication skills Competence in Microsoft Office Competence in AutoCAD or other drafting program Problem-solver who identifies innovative solutions to real world problems Demonstrated ability to balance productivity on multiple projects simultaneously Ability to work independently and within a team
