Job Description
Position Summary We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Structural Engineering Associate to join our engineering team. The successful candidate will support the design, analysis, and documentation of structural systems for a variety of building and infrastructure projects. This position is ideal for an engineer who is looking to develop their technical expertise, gain project experience, and work collaboratively with experienced structural engineers, architects, contractors, and other project stakeholders. Key Responsibilities Assist with the analysis and design of structural systems including steel, concrete, masonry, and wood structures. Prepare structural calculations, drawings, specifications, and technical reports. Develop and review structural models using engineering software. Perform structural evaluations, inspections, and field investigations as required. Assist with the preparation of construction documents and respond to contractor requests for information (RFIs). Coordinate structural designs with architectural, mechanical, electrical, civil, and other disciplines. Review shop drawings, submittals, and structural details for compliance with project requirements. Participate in project meetings and communicate technical information effectively with clients, contractors, and project teams. Conduct site visits to observe existing conditions and construction progress. Apply applicable building codes, standards, and design criteria to engineering work. Assist senior engineers and project managers with project planning, scheduling, and coordination. Maintain accurate project documentation and ensure work meets established quality standards. Support continuous improvement of engineering processes, design standards, and technical procedures. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related field. 0-5 years of structural engineering experience; relevant internship or co-op experience is a plus. EIT certification is required. Familiarity with structural engineering principles, analysis methods, and applicable building codes. Proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience with structural engineering software such as RISA, RAM, ETABS, SAP2000, STAAD.Pro, Tekla, Revit, AutoCAD, or similar software is preferred. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team. Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate, high-quality work. Preferred Qualifications Experience with structural design of commercial, industrial, residential, institutional, or infrastructure projects. Familiarity with ASCE 7, AISC, ACI, IBC, NDS, and other applicable structural design standards. Previous experience preparing structural calculations and construction documents. Experience with BIM and Revit-based structural design. Progress toward obtaining a Professional Engineer (PE) license.
