full-time Company Description Land Engineering Consultants, Inc. (LEC) is a civil engineering, land planning, and land surveying firm based in Calimesa, California. LEC provides civil engineering and project management services for public agencies, water agencies, private developers, and property owners throughout Southern California. Our work includes land development, public infrastructure, water and sewer facilities, roadway improvements, grading and drainage, and construction support. As a smaller consulting firm, our engineers are involved throughout the life of a project-from initial planning and design through agency approvals, bidding, and construction. This position offers the opportunity to work directly with clients, public agencies, consultants, and contractors while managing a diverse range of local projects. Role Description LEC is seeking a Civil Project Engineer / Project Manager for a full-time, on-site position in Calimesa, CA. We are looking for an experienced, well-rounded civil engineer who can independently develop engineering designs while also helping manage projects from concept through construction. The position includes preparation and oversight of grading, drainage, roadway, utility, water, sewer, and site development plans; hydrology and hydraulic calculations; technical reports; specifications and cost estimates; and other engineering documents. The engineer will coordinate directly with clients, public agencies, utility providers, architects, surveyors, geotechnical engineers, environmental consultants, and contractors. Responsibilities will also include managing agency plan-check comments and permitting, coordinating project schedules and deliverables, assisting with bidding and construction administration, responding to RFIs and submittals, and resolving design and construction issues. This is a hands-on position suited for an engineer who enjoys both the technical/design side of civil engineering and the project management/client coordination side. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field. Approximately 5+ years of relevant civil engineering experience preferred. Experience with land development, public works, water/wastewater infrastructure, or similar civil engineering projects. Experience with land surveying principles and practices, including boundary, topographic, and construction surveying, is preferred. Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D and the ability to independently prepare or direct preparation of civil construction plans. Experience with grading, drainage, hydrology/hydraulics, roadway design, water, sewer, and storm drain facilities, and site development. Ability to prepare and review engineering calculations, technical reports, specifications, quantities, and cost estimates. Experience coordinating projects through local agency plan review and permitting. Ability to communicate effectively with clients, agency staff, consultants, contractors, and internal team members. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to independently work through technical and project coordination issues. Experience with construction administration or construction management is a plus. CaliforniaPE license preferred, or EIT with the experience and ability to progress toward licensure. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities while maintaining quality and schedules. Position is primarily on-site in Calimesa, California, with occasional project meetings and field visits throughout the region.
