Cardinal's clients include numerous towns and cities across Connecticut, as well as the Connecticut Department of Transportation, Department of Energy and Environmental Protection, and Division of Construction Services. Role Description The Civil Project Engineer is a full-time, on-site position based in Meriden, CT. This role is responsible for supporting and leading civil engineering design tasks for public works and site development projects, including preparing plans, specifications, and cost estimates. Day-to-day activities include performing technical analyses, coordinating stormwater management and drainage design, reviewing drawings and reports, and supporting permitting and regulatory compliance. The Civil Project Engineer collaborates with project managers, other engineers, and CAD technicians, attends project meetings, and communicates with clients and agencies as needed. The role also involves overseeing quality control for project deliverables, assisting with construction administration, and ensuring projects are completed on schedule and within budget. Qualifications Demonstrated proficiency in Civil Engineering and Civil Engineering Design for public works and site development projects. Experience with Stormwater Management, including drainage design, hydrologic and hydraulic calculations, and compliance with local and state regulations. Practical knowledge of Site Development, including grading, utilities, and roadway or infrastructure layout. Commitment to Quality Control in engineering deliverables, with strong attention to detail and adherence to standards. Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related field; EIT or PE licensure in Connecticut (or ability to obtain) preferred. Proficiency with relevant design and drafting software (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D or equivalent) and standard office applications. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively in an on-site team environment and manage multiple tasks and deadlines. Previous experience with municipal or state infrastructure projects in Connecticut is beneficial.
