(KCA) has an opening in our Tampa and Miami Florida Offices for a Lead/Senior Structural Engineer. The ideal candidate will have 10+ years experience in design/plans production of bridges and miscellaneous structures associated with transportation projects. You will work under the guidance of Senior/Chief Structural Engineers while also mentoring junior staff, managing client relations and ensuring quality and accuracy across all phases of design.
Responsibilities:
Preparing design calculations, construction plans, and technical reports while coordinating with roadway, geotechnical, and hydraulic disciplines. Designing and producing plans for transportation-related projects from preliminary to final design including specifications, quantities, cost estimates, and final bid packages, and coordinating with the design team to ensure project completion within defined schedule, budget, and quality. Oversee projects through the construction phase and provide associated post design support. Work at this level requires the candidate to be a proactive, self-starter that is willing to work with a large team of engineers on projects throughout the state of Florida. This role requires a solid understanding of applicable AASHTO codes, FDOT Guidelines and structural analysis software, with increased responsibility for project components and quality control. Opportunities to support proposal development and marketing initiatives, attend client meetings, and identify new project opportunities. Fulfill project management responsibilities for bridge related projects including procurement coordination, staff-hour development, budget oversight and invoicing.
Required Skills:
Competent knowledge of structural engineering principles/practices and application to project work-related issues. Familiarity with all aspects of conventional bridge design including knowledge of structural design principles for steel, reinforced concrete, and prestressed concrete for both superstructure and substructure components. Knowledge of FDOT design guidelines, design standards, and plans preparation procedures. Ability to work on multiple projects in a dynamic, fast-paced team-oriented environment. Experience in using bridge focused structural analysis and design software such as Open Bridge Modeler/Designer. Ability to write, speak, and communicate clearly and effectively.
Qualifications:
