ROLE OVERVIEW
We are looking for a Civil Engineer to provide technical leadership and system design capability across our U.S. projects. This is not a back-office design role. You will work directly with consulting engineers and project stakeholders to ensure vacuum sewer systems are correctly applied, well designed, and successfully delivered. You will play a key role in shaping projects early, building engineering confidence, and converting opportunities into practical, buildable solutions.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
System Design & Technical Leadership Develop vacuum sewer system concepts and layouts Support network design including profiles, zoning, and valve placement Ensure alignment between collection systems and vacuum stations Provide technical input into proposals and early-stage project development Engineering Firm Engagement Work directly with consulting engineers and design teams Review and guide system designs Provide practical, experience-based advice Help engineers understand and confidently apply vacuum technology Project Development Support Participate in early-stage meetings with engineering firms and clients Translate opportunities into clear technical concepts Support specification development and design inclusion Strengthen Flovac's technical credibility in the market System Integrity & Risk Management Identify and prevent poor system design decisions Ensure systems are treated as integrated networks, not individual components Support internal technical review prior to supply Protect system performance and long-term reliability
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering 7-15 years of relevant experience Professional Engineer (PE) preferred or in progress Experience Sewer collection systems or utility infrastructure Consulting engineering or design environments Working with municipalities, utilities, or developers Key Traits Practical and solutions-focused mindset Strong communication skills with technical and non-technical audiences Comfortable working externally with consulting engineers and stakeholders Understands real-world system behavior, not just theory
HOW YOU'LL WORK
You'll work closely with our Business Development team: Business Development opens opportunities and builds relationships You provide technical depth, credibility, and design leadership Together, you will engage engineers early, shape project direction, and help secure specifications and project wins.
COMPENSATION
Base Salary:
$110,000 - $170,000 (target range $120,000 - $150,000)
Performance Bonus:
10-20% based on project support and successful outcomes
