Type:

full-time NOVA Engineering & Environmental is seeking an entry-level to mid-level Building Enclosure Field Engineer to join our growing Building Envelope Consulting team based in Kennesaw, GA. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated construction professional looking to expand their expertise in building envelope systems, forensic investigations, quality assurance inspections, and performance testing. We welcome candidates from a variety of backgrounds, including commercial roofing, waterproofing, glazing, curtain wall installation, facade construction, building envelope consulting, construction inspection, special inspections, and construction materials testing. In this role, you will work alongside experienced building enclosure consultants on a diverse range of commercial, institutional, healthcare, educational, industrial, and multifamily projects. You will gain hands-on experience evaluating and testing the systems that protect buildings from water, air, and weather intrusion while helping owners, architects, and contractors deliver high-quality projects. This position is primarily field-based and offers significant opportunities for professional growth, technical training, and long-term career advancement within a nationally recognized engineering consulting firm.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Building Envelope Testing & Inspections Perform field testing of roofing, waterproofing, window, curtain wall, storefront, facade, and other building enclosure systems. Conduct performance testing on new and existing building envelope systems in accordance with ASTM, AAMA, ANSI, TAS, and other industry standards. Assist with water infiltration testing, air leakage testing, and quality assurance evaluations of exterior building components. Observe construction activities and verify compliance with project specifications, manufacturer requirements, and industry best practices. Evaluate workmanship and installation practices for roofing, waterproofing, glazing, facade, and exterior wall systems.

Field Investigations & Consulting Support:

Assist with forensic investigations involving roof leaks, water intrusion, building enclosure failures, and moisture-related issues. Support senior consultants during building assessments, condition surveys, and failure investigations. Utilize moisture detection equipment, infrared technologies, and field-testing equipment to evaluate building performance. Collect field data and observations to support engineering analyses and consulting recommendations.

Documentation & Reporting:

Document project findings through detailed field notes, reports, photographs, and testing records. Review architectural drawings, shop drawings, submittals, and construction documents related to building enclosure systems. Communicate observations and findings with project managers, consultants, contractors, and clients. Maintain organized project documentation and support technical report preparation.

Travel & Project Support:

Travel to project sites throughout Georgia and surrounding states as needed. Occasional overnight travel may be required depending on project locations. Work in both indoor and outdoor environments while supporting active construction projects.

QUALIFICATIONS

High school diploma or equivalent required. 1+ years of experience in one or more of the following: Commercial roofing, Commercial glazing, Curtain wall installation, Waterproofing, Exterior facade construction, Special inspections, Construction materials testing, Construction quality control, Building envelope consulting, Construction field services Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications. Strong attention to detail and documentation skills. Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions. Ability to climb ladders, access roofs, work at heights, and navigate active construction sites. Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience with building enclosure systems, including: Roofing systems, Waterproofing and below-grade waterproofing, Windows and storefront systems, Curtain wall systems, Exterior wall cladding systems, Facades and building envelopes Familiarity with ASTM, AAMA, ANSI, TAS, or similar testing standards. Experience conducting quality assurance inspections for building envelope systems. Experience with leak investigations, water intrusion assessments, or forensic evaluations. Familiarity with infrared thermography, moisture detection equipment, or diagnostic testing tools. OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification. Infrared Thermography Certification (Level I or higher).

IIBEC certifications such as:

Registered Roof Observer (RRO), Registered Exterior Wall Observer (REWO), Registered Exterior Wall Consultant (REWC)
