We work side-by-side with contractors throughout the construction process and take pride in solving the unique field challenges that arise on real-world projects. NXB Geo is not your traditional survey or engineering firm. Our office and field teams work closely together to streamline workflows, solve problems efficiently, and deliver exceptional service to our clients. We utilize modern technology and collaborative processes to support some of the most exciting construction projects in Idaho. We are seeking a driven and experienced leader to oversee and grow our Modeling Department. This is a key leadership role responsible for managing personnel, coordinating projects and clients, maintaining production quality, and driving innovation within our modeling workflows. This position is ideal for someone with a strong background in civil construction modeling, surveying, or engineering who enjoys leadership, mentoring teams, and delivering high-quality work in a fast-paced construction environment.
  • Position Overview The Head of Modeling Department will lead the development, review, and delivery of machine control and construction models for a variety of heavy civil, roadway, residential, and commercial projects.
This role combines technical expertise, project coordination, and team leadership. The successful candidate will work closely with company leadership, project managers, field crews, contractors, and clients to ensure projects are completed accurately, efficiently, and on schedule.
  • Primary Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage daily operations of the Modeling Department
  • Coordinate directly with clients, contractors, and project stakeholders
  • Manage project scheduling, workload distribution, and production timelines
  • Supervise, mentor, and train modeling department personnel
  • Perform final reviews and quality control of models, surfaces, and deliverables
  • Oversee machine control exports and data preparation for field operations
  • Identify and resolve modeling, design, and construction-related issues
  • Develop and improve internal workflows, standards, and efficiencies
  • Collaborate closely with survey and field teams to support construction operations
  • Support bidding, project planning, and technical problem solving as needed
  • Maintain strong communication with leadership regarding department performance and project status
  • Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience in civil construction modeling, surveying, or civil engineering
  • Strong background in machine control modeling and construction workflows
  • Experience leading teams and managing production schedules
  • Proficiency with industry-standard CAD and modeling software
  • Strong understanding of grading, roadway, utility, and site construction
  • Exceptional organizational and communication skills
  • Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment Preferred experience with:

  • Topcon and/or Trimble machine control systems
