Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and develop roadway and transportation design plans in accordance with IDOT standards, manuals, and procedures
• Perform engineering calculations, quantity takeoffs, and design documentation for various project phases (Phase

I/II/III

as applicable)

• Apply IDOT design criteria including geometric design, drainage, maintenance of traffic, and specifications
• Coordinate with internal team members, including project managers, CAD staff, and other discipline engineers
• Review and check design work prepared by junior engineers and technicians for accuracy and compliance
• Assist in the preparation of project deliverables, reports, and contract documents
• Participate in IDOT coordination meetings and respond to agency comments as needed
• Support project schedules and deliverable deadlines through efficient design production
• Maintain familiarity with current IDOT policies, manuals, and evolving standards

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field

• Professional Engineer (PE) license required (Illinois preferred)
• 6+ years of experience in transportation or roadway design
• Strong experience with IDOT policies, procedures, and project delivery requirements
• Proficiency in design software (e.g., MicroStation, OpenRoads, AutoCAD Civil 3D)
• Solid understanding of roadway design, drainage, and construction documentation
