Key Responsibilities- Prepare and develop roadway and transportation design plans in accordance with IDOT standards, manuals, and procedures
- Perform engineering calculations, quantity takeoffs, and design documentation for various project phases (Phase
I/II/III
as applicable)- Apply IDOT design criteria including geometric design, drainage, maintenance of traffic, and specifications
- Coordinate with internal team members, including project managers, CAD staff, and other discipline engineers
- Review and check design work prepared by junior engineers and technicians for accuracy and compliance
- Assist in the preparation of project deliverables, reports, and contract documents
- Participate in IDOT coordination meetings and respond to agency comments as needed
- Support project schedules and deliverable deadlines through efficient design production
- Maintain familiarity with current IDOT policies, manuals, and evolving standards
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field- Professional Engineer (PE) license required (Illinois preferred)
- 6+ years of experience in transportation or roadway design
- Strong experience with IDOT policies, procedures, and project delivery requirements
- Proficiency in design software (e.g., MicroStation, OpenRoads, AutoCAD Civil 3D)
- Solid understanding of roadway design, drainage, and construction documentation
