CIVIL ENGINEER I
Public Works Dept / Engineering Division Salary information: The annual salary range for this position is $81,354.88 - $106,427.53. The starting salary pay range is $81,354.88 - $89,693.76 (DOQ). Brief Description As a valued member of the Engineering Div. team, you will direct the preparation of ofDuties:
design, plans, and specifications for the construction of Village improvement projects such as street resurfacing, street, ailey, bike path, and parking lot paving, rehabiiitation and installation of sewer and water mains, stormwater management, and lead water service replacement; Responsible for the coordination of projects with outside agencies; Makes engineering computations in the performance of topographic, cross section, and other engineering work; Conducts field inspection and resolves problems by visiting site to understand scope and makes recommendations for solutions.; Prepares, analyzes, and reviews engineering reports and writes summary reports; Make sketches, either preliminary to additional survey work, or as a guide to technicians; Under supervision, works directly with contractors in construction-related discussions and problem resolution; Records data, prepares records, and maintains requisite divisional files; Assists other departments by reviewing and processing back-up information to be incorporated into reports; Responds to citizen requests and provides recommendations; Performs other work-related duties, as assigned. Recfuired Training and Valid Driver's License; Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering required; Ability toKnowledge:
obtain Professional Engineer license in Illinois desirable; Previous Municipal engineering experience a plus; Working knowledge of the methods and standards of construction and land survey nomendature, engineering maps, records and drafting nomenclature and symbols, and construction methods and materials; Demonstrated ski!) in using a variety of engineering and survey instruments, in making engineering computations, and in preparing plans and sketches; Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills; Strong attention to detail; Good knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) applications; Ability to follow al! safety rules and regulations of the Village.Application Process:
