Job Description

Berkshire Design Group is looking for a civil engineer to join our small team of civil engineers, landscape architects, and land surveyors in Northampton, MA. In this role, you will prepare site plans, stormwater management designs, utility layouts, and applications for state and local permits. You will also see projects through construction, providing guidance to contractors and observing work in the field. Our recent work has included new public school buildings, rehabilitation of state parks, innovative net-zero water systems, multi-million-dollar commercial and residential developments, and master planning for institutional campuses throughout the northeast. We work in our own communities, so we pass by our projects every day, which makes even small ones feel significant. Our engineers are comfortable with roadway design, grading, stormwater, and utilities, and are fluent in AutoCAD. Experience with site design, as well as stormwater management design and modeling, is a requirement for this position. Field experience and familiarity with MassDEP wetland regulation, Title 5, or Civil 3D are a plus. Ideally, you are a licensed Professional Engineer with 4-8 years of experience who can work independently and take on project management duties with oversight from senior staff. That said, we welcome candidates across a range of experience levels, and responsibilities will scale with your experience. If you don't yet hold your PE, you should be an EIT on track to licensure. Beyond those technical qualifications, strong written and verbal communication skills matter to us, and we value people who work well with clients directly. You should be someone who can take ownership of your work while knowing that you have a collaborative cross-disciplinary team around you. The people who do well here enjoy working with others, follow through on their commitments, and find creative ways to give our clients what they need. We offer health and dental insurance, paid time off, holiday time, a Simple IRA plan, and flex spending accounts. To learn more about our people and our work, visit us at www.berkshiredesign.com.
