Job Description

Water/Wastewater Project Engineer I Essential Functions and Responsibilities
  • Analyze project requirements and information from alternative studies to develop an accurate report for submittal.
  • Analyze survey reports, maps, drawings, blueprints, aerial photography and other topographical or geologic data to plan projects/tasks
  • Assessing and identifying collection/distribution system performance deficiencies, predicting future issues, and developing solutions for planning and design projects
  • Candidates must demonstrate familiarity with hydraulic designs, sewer rehabilitation, water and sewer design, water and water/wastewater pump station and treatment process design, engineering economics, preparation of specifications and engineering report writing
  • Candidates should have a firm grasp of general heavy construction principles; environmental facilities operations-related experience is considered a plus
  • Perform design computations
  • Design projects in accordance with client specifications and guidelines, using design software and drawing tools
  • Develop or review the construction cost estimate.
  • Prepare and compile contract plans, specifications and estimates
  • Attend meetings with clients and assist taking meeting minutes
  • Coordinate with other disciplines and understand how they fit into the project and design.
  • Quality review of project design in accordance with the Project Management Plan.
  • Technical oversight and guidance/support of Design Engineers within departmentNonessential Functions and Responsibilities
  • Perform other related duties as assigned Required Experience
  • 5-10 Years' Experience
  • A bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering from an ABET accredited university
  • Proficient in related design software including AutoCAD Civil 3D, Revit, ArcGIS, and MS Project
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Written and communication skills Qualifications Preferred
  • Possess a Professional Engineering License

  • Benefits | JMT Working Conditions Work is performed within a general office environment 95% of the time.
Work is generally sedentary in nature, but may require occasional standing and walking. Lighting and temperature are adequate and t are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. within the office environment. Field work is required on occasion w work may be conducted outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions. Some lifting (up to 25 lbs) may be required as needed.
