Job Description

Position OverviewWe are seeking a motivated Civil Engineer to design and manage land and site development projects, focusing on grading, stormwater drainage, utility coordination, and construction support. The ideal candidate will deliver practical, code-compliant civil engineering solutions from concept through construction, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, and communicate effectively with clients, permitting agencies, and contractors to complete projects on time and within budget.

Key ResponsibilitiesPrepare civil engineering designs and construction documents for land development and site improvement projects, including grading plans, drainage systems, stormwater management, and utility layouts.

Perform site assessments, feasibility studies, and cost estimates to support project planning and client proposals.

Develop hydrologic and hydraulic analyses, stormwater management plans, detention/retention designs, and drainage reports per local and state regulations.

Coordinate with architects, surveyors, environmental specialists, contractors, and permitting authorities to integrate civil design with overall project requirements.

Produce calculations, technical specifications, and plan details; ensure plans comply with applicable codes, standards, and ordinances.

Provide construction administration and field observation during grading, drainage, and site utility installation; respond to Requests for Information (RFIs) and issue plan revisions as needed.

Manage multiple projects, schedules, and budgets; track project deliverables and communicate progress to clients and internal teams.

Mentor junior engineers and review technical work to maintain quality control and best practices.

Participate in business development activities, prepare proposals, and support client presentations.

QualificationsBachelors degree in Civil Engineering or related field; Masters degree or relevant licensure (PE) preferred.3+ years of professional civil engineering experience with emphasis on land development and site/civil engineering projects.

Demonstrated experience in grading plan development, stormwater drainage design, and site infrastructure layout.

Proficiency with civil engineering design software such as AutoCAD Civil 3D, HydroCAD, HEC-RAS, or similar tools.

Strong knowledge of local permitting processes, stormwater regulations (MS4, BMPs), municipal design standards, and relevant codes.

Excellent technical writing and communication skills; ability to prepare clear reports, permit submittals, and client correspondence.

Ability to perform field visits and construction observation; valid drivers license.

Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
