A Building Engineer utilizes a mixture of construction knowledge and engineering principles to aid with building projects. Analyzes reports, helps design structures, and manages contracts and budgets. Also creates construction schedules and keeps construction sites in compliance with applicable laws.
Included About the Role The Building Engineer leads, with minimal supervision, the operation, inspection, and maintenance of mechanical, HVAC, electrical, and plumbing equipment and systems at a commercial property in Iselin, NJ. The ideal candidate will have strong troubleshooting abilities, excellent customer service skills, and hands-on experience maintaining commercial building systems. Responsibilities Complete assigned tasks including, but not limited to: painting, pressure washing, maintaining lighting system bulbs/ballasts (as permitted by licensing requirements),plumbing, HVAC systems, water treatment, locksmith work, and general maintenance. Assist in implementing the preventive maintenance program. Maintain the work order system (CMMS) daily and respond to tenant service requests in a timely manner. Support on-call or emergency response situations, as needed. Troubleshoot all building systems, including electrical, DDC, and pneumatic controls. Comply with all safety procedures and operational standards. Participate in ongoing technical, safety, and operational training programs. Perform additional projects and duties as assigned. Preferred Qualifications 3-5 years of related experience in repair, maintenance, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, or carpentry. Trade school education, union training, military service, or college coursework is desirable. Universal CFC EPA Certification. Experience using Microsoft Office applications including Word, Outlook, Excel, and Teams. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Comfortable working on ladders up to 30 feet high. Ability to frequently climb, bend, kneel, lift, and drive. Strong customer service and communication skills.
