VCA Code is growing and looking for experienced Plan Check Engineers to join our Plan Review team. Candidates may be considered at the Plan Check Engineer or Senior Plan Check Engineer level based on experience, technical expertise, and overall qualifications. Responsibilities Review building and structural plans for residential, commercial, and industrial projects. Review architectural and structural plans, specifications, and calculations for compliance with applicable codes and standards. Review structural calculations, including seismic and wind load requirements. Review applicable building, accessibility, energy, CALGreen, and fire/life-safety requirements. Prepare clear and substantive plan check comments with applicable code references. Respond to technical questions from architects, engineers, contractors, and applicants regarding code requirements and plan review comments. Assist with complex plan review issues and interpretation of new or updated code requirements. Utilize electronic plan review software and other applicable technology. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related field from an accredited college or university. Current California Civil or Structural Professional Engineer (PE) license. Plan review experience with a municipality, building department, or consulting firm. Experience reviewing residential, commercial, and/or industrial projects. Experience reviewing structural calculations and architectural plans. Strong knowledge of California Building Codes and applicable state and local requirements. Ability to review and interpret architectural plans, structural plans, specifications, and calculations. Ability to prepare clear and substantive plan check corrections with appropriate code references. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Certified Access Specialist (CASp) is highly desirable.
Compensation:
The final salary offered will be based on the candidate's experience, technical expertise, professional licensure, certifications, and overall qualifications.
