Description:
Hoyle Tanner has a new position open for an initiative-taking Sr. Hydraulic Engineer with experience in open channel flow (riversstreams). You will lead and support hydraulic analysis and scour evaluation for bridge and culvert projects. Location:
Burlington, VT Situated in the heart of Burlington's downtown district, our office sits high on the fourth floor of the Wells-Richardson historic building overlooking the beautiful Lake Champlain waterfront and Adirondack Mountains.
Primary Responsibilities:
Lead and conduct hydraulic studies for bridge and culvert projects, including river, stream, and floodplain crossings Perform detailed scour analyses for new and existing bridge structures and recommend appropriate scour protection measures Utilize hydrologic and hydraulic modeling software (e.g., HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, SRH-2D) and GIS-based project mapping tools for project analysis and design Prepare technical reports, calculations, maps, and documentation for regulatory submittals and project records Coordinate with multidisciplinary project teams, including structural engineers, environmental scientists, and construction staff Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and review their work for accuracy and compliance
Requirements:
Qualifications:
BS or MS degree in civil or environmental engineering, or related field PE Licensure 10+ years of relevant experience Exceptional oral written communication skills Salary is contingent on experience Hoyle Tanner is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
