Job Description

The Fordy Group is partnering with a leading heavy civil and asphalt contractor to hire an experienced Field Engineer for a landmark $200M highway project in Columbia, SC. This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in the successful delivery of a major infrastructure project while working with a well-established contractor known for quality, safety, and long-term employee investment.
Role Overview:
The Field Engineer will support project execution by coordinating field activities, tracking production, ensuring quality control, and assisting with project documentation. This position serves as a critical link between the field and project management teams, helping to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and according to project specifications.
Key Responsibilities:
Support daily construction operations on a large-scale heavy highway project Coordinate with superintendents, project managers, subcontractors, and inspectors to ensure smooth project execution Assist with scheduling, production tracking, and progress reporting Review plans, specifications, and construction documents to support field operations Perform quantity takeoffs, material tracking, and project documentation Monitor quality control measures and ensure compliance with project requirements and DOT standards Identify field issues and collaborate with project teams to develop effective solutions Maintain accurate daily reports, as-built records, and project documentation Promote and support a strong safety culture on the jobsite
Candidate Profile:
Experience as a Field Engineer, Project Engineer, or related role on heavy civil or highway construction projects Strong understanding of DOT specifications, roadwork, grading, paving, drainage, and utility construction Ability to read and interpret civil construction plans, specifications, and technical documents Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills Proficiency with construction management software and Microsoft Office applications Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement

INDTFG Pay:
$80,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
