POSITION SUMMARY
Laurita Inc. is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Project Engineer to join our construction operations team. The Project Engineer works closely with the Project Manager, Superintendent, subcontractors, vendors, and project owners to support the successful execution of heavy civil construction projects. The Project Engineer is responsible for coordinating project documentation, tracking project information, supporting project controls, and helping ensure that work is performed in accordance with the plans, specifications, contract requirements, schedule, and Laurita's standards. This position is an important development role within Laurita's project management team and provides an opportunity to gain the knowledge and experience necessary to advance into an Assistant Project Manager role.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Project Administration & Documentation
- Maintain organized project files and documentation.
- Manage and maintain RFI, submittal, drawing, correspondence, and other project logs.
- Prepare and distribute project correspondence and documentation.
- Review plans, specifications, and contract documents and communicate relevant information to the project team.
- Assist with project closeout documentation and turnover. Project Cost & Quantity Tracking
- Track project quantities and production information.
- Assist with job cost tracking and project cost reports.
- Compare installed quantities against estimates and contract quantities.
- Maintain accurate records of labor, equipment, materials, and subcontractor work.
- Assist with change-order documentation and pricing.
- Identify potential changes or cost impacts and communicate them to the Project Manager. Subcontractor & Vendor Coordination
- Assist with subcontractor and vendor coordination.
- Track subcontractor submittals, schedules, invoices, and required documentation.
- Review subcontractor work documentation and backup.
- Assist the Project Manager with subcontract administration.
- Help coordinate material deliveries and procurement activities. Scheduling & Project Coordination
- Assist with maintaining the project schedule.
- Track upcoming work, material deliveries, submittals, RFIs, and other schedule-related items.
- Assist with short-term and look-ahead planning.
- Coordinate information between the office and field teams.
- Identify potential schedule conflicts and bring them to the Project Manager's attention Field Support
- Regularly visit the project site to understand project progress and field conditions.
- Work closely with the Superintendent to track quantities, production, and project progress.
- Assist with field documentation and verification of completed work.
- Develop an understanding of construction means, methods, sequencing, and production.
- Help ensure that field activities are consistent with contract documents and project requirements. Pay Applications & Billing
- Assist with preparation of monthly pay applications.
- Track contract quantities and completed work.
- Collect and organize subcontractor and vendor billing documentation.
- Assist with reviewing quantities and supporting documentation for billing.
- Maintain accurate records supporting project revenue and costs. Quality, Safety & Compliance
- Support Laurita's commitment to safety, quality, and professionalism.
- Assist with documentation related to inspections, testing, quality control, and project requirements.
- Communicate potential quality or compliance issues to the Project Manager and Superintendent.
- Follow all company and project-specific safety requirements.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related field preferred.
- Previous construction experience through internships, co-op programs, or full-time employment preferred.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to read and understand construction plans and specifications.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Outlook, and Teams
- Ability to learn construction project management software and technology.
- Ability to work effectively with project managers, superintendents, subcontractors, owners, engineers, and field personnel.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites as required.

The ideal candidate is someone who wants to build a long-term career in construction project management . Laurita is looking for someone who is organized, accountable, willing to learn, comfortable working both in the office and in the field, and interested in understanding the entire construction process—not simply completing administrative tasks. The successful Project Engineer will learn how projects are estimated, contracted, planned, executed, billed, and closed out , while progressively taking on greater responsibility.
CAREER DEVELOPMENT
The Project Engineer position is designed to provide a clear path for advancement within Laurita's project management team. Project Engineer → Assistant Project Manager → Project Manager → Senior Project Manager As the Project Engineer demonstrates the ability to independently manage project responsibilities, understand project costs and contracts, coordinate subcontractors, solve problems, and effectively support project execution, additional responsibilities and advancement opportunities will be provided.

PHYSICAL & WORK ENVIRONMENT
This position requires a combination of office and field work. Employees may be required to visit active construction sites and should be comfortable working around construction equipment, uneven terrain, varying weather conditions, noise, dust, and other typical construction-site conditions.
