Job Description
Position Overview Tampa-based geotechnical engineering firm seeking a responsible, hardworking, motivated individual to join our growing firm as an Engineering Technician. The engineering technician is responsible for performing reconnaissance to determine suitability of site conditions before field work is performed. They must consider access restrictions and utility conflicts that may result in project delays or scope adjustments. The engineering technician will execute a variety of geotechnical field tests, collect and label soil samples, take site photos, and complete detailed logs of work performed. Daily communication with the field coordinator and project managers is required and expected. Job Responsibilities
- Stake/paint test locations
- Site reconnaissance
- Hand auger borings (manual and power auger)
- Pavement cores
- DRI (double ring infiltrometer) tests
- Muck probes
- Operating rental equipment such as mini excavators
- Perform shop/yard duties under the direction of the field coordinator Job Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- Valid driver's license required
- Successful completion of a physical, pre-employment drug screen and background check
- Ability to lift 50-70 lbs on a regular basis and to work 8+ hours per day
- Ability to flexible hours when necessary (occasional night work)
- Ability to travel out of town when necessary (less than 25% of the time)
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Experience working near underground utilities
- Experience operating heavy equipment / construction equipment
- Advanced MOT certification preferred
