As a County Highway Engineering Technician, you will play a crucial role in assisting our team of engineers and professionals in achieving this goal.

Responsibilities:

Collaborate with engineering staff to assist in the planning, design, and analysis of county and township highway projects. Assist in the preparation of engineering drawings, plans, and specifications for construction and maintenance projects. Serve as Resident Technician on roadway and bridge construction projects. Provide support during construction projects, including monitoring progress, verifying compliance with plans, and addressing any issues that may arise. Conduct materials sampling and testing in accordance with IDOT specifications. Collaborate with other departments, local government agencies, and stakeholders to ensure effective communication and coordination. Review permit applications for overweight and oversized loads, driveways and utility installations. Utilize computer-aided design (CAD) software and other technical tools to create accurate and detailed drawings.

Qualifications:

Required:

High School Diploma Valid Driver's License Proficiency with Microsoft Office Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and navigate construction sites. Excellent communication and teamwork skills. Successful completion of a background check.

Preferred:

Familiarity with transportation engineering principles and practices. Associate degree in Civil Engineering Technology or related field a plus. Proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD) software and technical tools. IDOT Inspection Certifications a plus (Aggregate, Concrete, HMA, Documentation, etc.)
