Overview:
A company is seeking a Civil - Staff Engineering Technician to join the Virtual Design & Data Solutions (VDDS) group within the Government & Communities Market Sector. In this role, you will collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams supporting Water and Industrial Water infrastructure design projects. You will be responsible for creating and modifying site development plans, including grading, drainage, erosion control, roadways, fencing, and underground utilities, using industry-standard design tools to support critical infrastructure projects.
Job Duties:
Develop, modify, and maintain technical drawings, base maps, site plans, and project documentation using Autodesk Civil 3D and/or Bentley MicroStation. Create site development designs focusing on grading and drainage, erosion control, roadways, fencing, and underground utilities.

Perform design calculations, detailed material quantity takeoffs, estimates, and project records. Review design inputs to ensure consistency and compliance with applicable codes, standards, and the BV Quality Program. Coordinate with multidisciplinary design personnel to exchange project information, define work assignments, and maintain project schedules. Provide technical guidance and support to other engineering professionals and junior technicians to maintain output quality and consistency. Support field activities and plant start-up or control system programming as needed.
Qualifications:
Minimum of 5 years of related work experience in civil drafting and design. Proficiency with Autodesk Civil 3D, including direct, hands-on Civil 3D grading experience.

High School Diploma or Technical Certificate required; Associate Degree in Drafting or Engineering Design-Related Technology preferred. Experience with Bentley MicroStation is preferred.

Solar project experience and familiarity with PVcase or PV Farm software is a plus.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Outlook, Teams, Excel). Strong understanding of CAD standards, layering, symbols, and scaling. Strong problem-solving, verbal, and written communication skills. Ability to pass standard pre-employment onboarding requirements (criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search).
