Job Description
Apollo Technical has an immediate opening for a Architectural drafter in the Maitland FL area If you have an architectural drafting or interior design background and want to grow into lighting design, this is a strong next step. We'll train you on photometric software and IES standards. The Role You'll work on-site with architects, engineers, design firms, and the sales team to turn lighting specs and architectural plans into accurate lighting layouts for commercial projects across Central Florida. Clean CAD work, plan-reading, and deadline-driven accuracy matter most — the lighting tools can be learned here. What You'll Do Create lighting layouts and photometric calculations (footcandles, averages, uniformity) from architectural and electrical plans Build point-by-point light-level models that meet project and IES requirements (training provided on AGi32 / Visual Lighting) Review manufacturer spec sheets and .IES files to select and place fixtures Overlay lighting designs onto architectural and electrical drawings in AutoCAD (Revit a plus) Support outside sales with layouts, calculations, and technical packages Attend occasional client meetings and industry events What You Need Background in architectural drafting, interior design, or a related design/CAD field Bachelors degree is preferred Proficiency in AutoCAD; Revit a plus Ability to read architectural and electrical plans Strong attention to detail and comfort with project deadlines Clear communication skills for working with sales, architects, and engineers Nice to Have Coursework or project experience in lighting design Familiarity with commercial LED fixtures or lighting controls Prior use of AGi32, Visual Lighting, or similar Knowledge of IES guidelines or energy codes
