Description Leidos Engineering has an opportunity for a Substation Structural Designer to join our fast-paced and dynamic EPC Solutions organization.

Project Management Professional (PMP)Formal Mentorship programsDevelopmental Leadership trainingTechnical Upskilling OppportunitiesManagement opportunitiesAs a Substation Structural Designer you will join and guide a diverse team of designers and drafters in creating structural designs, calculations, and technical drawings for substation projects, ensuring compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and project requirements. Key responsibilities include leading design reviews, mentoring junior designers, collaborating with other disciplines, managing project timelines, and staying updated on relevant technologies to ensure the structural integrity and successful delivery of projects. Effective communication supported by a philosophy of continuous improvement and teamwork is required.
Primary Responsibilities:
Resource allocation for direct reports and coordination with engineering manager.

Identify and resolve project issues by keeping an open line of communication between the internal project team and the client.

Interact directly with clients to review and resolve technical project related issues without supervision.

Collaborate with engineers/designers across disciplines and identify/resolve potential design issues to assure a complete, high-quality product.

Ensures project deliverables for technical quality, accuracy and compliance with Company and Client standards.

QA/QC site steel plans, sections, details along with corresponding BOMs prepared by direct reports.

QA/QC foundation plans, sections, details along with corresponding BOMs.

Identifies and resolves design interferences.

Ensure electrical assets can mount easily, coordinating vendor equipment mounting templates with Leidos' steel design.
