Job Description
Architectural DesignerPosition OverviewWe are seeking a creative and detail-oriented Architectural Designer to join our studio. The ideal candidate will develop conceptual and schematic designs through construction drawings, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, ensure compliance with building codes and zoning regulations, and apply sustainable materials and practices. This role requires strong Revit and AutoCAD skills, a solid understanding of MEP, civil, and structural coordination, and a commitment to producing high-quality architectural documentation.
Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop conceptual designs and translate them into schematic plans, elevations, sections, and details.
Produce accurate construction drawings and sets using Revit and AutoCAD, ensuring clarity for contractors and consultants.
Coordinate design and documentation with MEP, civil, and structural consultants to resolve technical issues and integrate building systems.
Ensure compliance with applicable building codes, zoning regulations, and permitting requirements; prepare permit submission materials.
Select and specify sustainable materials and systems that support project sustainability goals and lifecycle performance.
Participate in client meetings, present design concepts, and incorporate client feedback into the design process.
Prepare visualizations, diagrams, and presentation materials to communicate design intent and support stakeholder approvals.
Perform site visits and construction administration as needed to review progress, respond to RFIs, and ensure design intent is executed.
Maintain project documentation, perform QA/QC on drawings and specifications, and support efficient project delivery.
Mentor junior staff and collaborate with senior architects to maintain design quality and consistency across projects.
QualificationsProfessional degree in Architecture (B.Arch or M.Arch) or equivalent.3+ years of architectural design and documentation experience, with demonstrated work on conceptual, schematic, and construction drawings.
Proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD is required; experience with BIM workflows is strongly preferred.
Familiarity with building codes, life-safety requirements, and local zoning regulations.
Experience coordinating with MEP, civil, and structural disciplines and integrating systems into architectural design.
Experience specifying sustainable materials and detailing strategies for energy-efficient performance.
Strong graphic and presentation skills; ability to produce clear plans, sections, elevations, and visual materials for clients and permitting.
NCARB record or active pursuit of licensure is preferred.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong organizational abilities, and attention to detail.
A portfolio demonstrating conceptual thinking, technical proficiency, and completed construction documents.
