Supervision Received Director of the Marine Department Supervision Exercised Supervises subordinate professional, classified and student personnel in his/her area of responsibility. General Responsibilities To provide professional support to the mission of the Marine Department, and specifically to coordinate maintenance, operation, and transportation of Marine Department assets.
Responsibilities:
Provide overall professional support to the mission of the marine department Assist, as directed, in operation of limited tonnage training vessels when engaged in training exercises, dry-docks, or transfer to other mooring occasions, with specific emphasis on the safety of all personnel. Assist in readiness, maintenance and transportation of Marine Department assets to include boats, yachts, manned/models, shells, dinghies, barges, floats, and moorings. Performs related duties such as maintaining records, logs, and schedules, of equipment installation, maintenance, and repairs. Assist in the coordination of departmental work schedules, work assignments, punch lists, and budgets. Assist in implementing and enforcing policies and instructions pertaining to the marine department for the safe operation of the academy waterfront, including piers, moorings, boathouse, workshop, Keith Harford Sailing Center, yard equipment, and vehicles assigned. Assist in the responsibility for the upkeep and cleanliness of the waterfront areas including Keith Hartford Sailing Center, piers, boat shop, docks, and all other marine department areas. Assist, as directed, with the Training Ship department and Yacht and Boat Donations Program. Support the Academy's programs such as continuing education, athletics, admissions, boat acquisitions and sales. Additional duties, as assigned by the Marine Department Director. Qualifications and Requirements Bachelor's degree in a related field Proficiency with computers USCG License, 100-ton Master or higher Experience in navigation, maintenance, and engineering on boats up to 65' Massachusetts (or other state) Driver's License Enrollment in the Academy's random drug testing program Preferred Qualifications Experience with carpentry, fiberglass work, and basic engine maintenance Experience as Master or Mate on vessels up to 65' or greater USCG License, 200-ton Master Able-Bodied Seaman or Ordinary Seaman Endorsement (or ability to obtain) Massachusetts Hoisting License (or ability to obtain) Salary $62,000- $67,000 annually How to Apply Please submit the following documents: cover letter, resume, MMA application, and contact information of five (5) professional references.
