Architectural / Engineering Designer - Commercial Projects Junior to Mid-Level | Full-Time | In-Office HT Associates | Flushing, Queens, NY About Us HT Associates is an architecture and engineering design firm based in Flushing, New York. We provide integrated architectural and engineering design services for commercial and residential projects throughout New York City and the surrounding areas. Our commercial portfolio includes restaurants, food-service spaces, retail stores, franchise locations, and other commercial projects. Many of our projects are designed and coordinated in-house across architectural and MEP disciplines, giving our team members hands-on exposure to multiple aspects of building design, permitting, and construction. We are looking for a Junior to Mid-Level Architectural / Engineering Designer to join our commercial team. We welcome candidates from a variety of architecture, engineering, construction, and building-design backgrounds. We value technical ability, relevant experience, communication skills, organization, and the ability to learn and take ownership of projects. Responsibilities Prepare and develop commercial construction drawing sets using AutoCAD Produce architectural plans, details, reflected ceiling plans, schedules, and other construction documents Assist with and coordinate MEP drawings and building systems Coordinate architectural and engineering information across disciplines Review existing conditions, surveys, and field measurements and incorporate them into project drawings Assist with NYC Building Code, zoning, and applicable code analysis Prepare drawings and documentation for NYC DOB filing and permitting Coordinate with clients, contractors, consultants, and internal team members Respond to plan examiner comments and prepare drawing revisions as needed Assist with RFIs, field conditions, construction coordination, and project revisions Manage multiple commercial projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment Gradually take greater ownership of projects from design and documentation through permitting and construction Qualifications Strong AutoCAD proficiency is required Educational or professional background in Architecture, Architectural Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Construction, Building Technology, or a related field Equivalent education and relevant professional experience will also be considered Understanding of construction drawings and basic building systems Working knowledge of building codes is preferred Architectural and/or MEP design experience is a plus Familiarity with NYC DOB filing and permitting procedures is a plus Experience with restaurant, food-service, retail, or franchise projects is a major plus Revit experience is a plus Strong communication and interpersonal skills; comfortable communicating directly with clients and project teams Strong organizational and time-management skills Detail-oriented and able to manage multiple assignments simultaneously Team player, fast learner, responsible, and willing to take initiative Bilingual English/Chinese is preferred Who We're Looking For We are open to candidates at the junior to mid-level range. The ideal candidate has a strong technical foundation and can contribute to drawing production immediately while developing the ability to independently coordinate and manage commercial projects. For more experienced candidates, we especially value the ability to independently produce construction documents, understand architectural and MEP coordination, communicate with clients and consultants, and move projects through the permitting process. Candidates with hands-on experience in restaurant, food-service, retail, or franchise projects will be especially valuable to our commercial team.
