Job Description

Job Description Job Description:
We are seeking a Senior Civil Designer to serve as a critical link between engineering, fabrication, and construction by transforming engineering concepts int accurate, build-ready drawings and deliverables.
Duties:
  • Convert engineering design packages into precise, build-ready fabrication drawings.
  • Review and interpret civil and structural designs to ensure accuracy, constructability, and alignment with project requirements, while collaborating closely with engineering teams to clarify intent and resolve discrepancies.
  • Review and provide quality assurance of drawings prepared by junior and mid-level designers for compliance with company standards and constructability requirements.
  • Revise drawings based on feedback and project updates, and ensure all deliverables meet applicable industry standards, codes, and quality expectations.
  • Provide field support during construction and fabrication activities, including resolving design issues, evaluating constructability concerns, and incorporating lessons learned into future designs.
  • Serve as the technical lead for the design team, providing mentoring, training, and day-to-day guidance to junior and mid-level designers while helping to preserve and transfer critical institutional knowledge. Skills and Requirements
  • 5+ years of experience in civil/structural design or drafting
  • Proficiency with the following tools Tekla, Inventor, or Advanced Steel for design work; and Bluebeam/Adobe Acrobat for project documentation
  • Experience supporting utility, infrastructure, industrial, or heavy construction projects.
  • Strong understanding of civil/structural drawings, detailing practices, document control, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with engineering teams in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to travel into the field (approximately 20%-30% of the time) for assignments and/or emergency design work in all five boroughs.
  • Ability to work overtime to meet critical deadlines/perform emergency work.
  • Background in steel, structural, or fabrication detailing with strong knowledge in industry standards
  • Experience producing shop/fabrication drawings for field execution with a strong eye for constructability/practicality of designs.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead technical teams, mentor designers, prioritize workload, and coordinate multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong proficiency in Tekla.
