Job Description

Mechanical Designer - Process & Building Systems (Hybrid | Hillsboro, OR) Position Overview We are seeking a Mechanical Designer to join a cutting-edge manufacturing facility in Hillsboro, Oregon . In this role, you will support the expansion and optimization of facility operations by developing and maintaining accurate mechanical design documentation for complex process and building systems. Working closely with engineers, project coordinators, construction teams, equipment owners, and manufacturers, you will create and update detailed 2D and 3D design packages using AutoCAD and Revit . This hybrid position combines office-based design work with regular on-site field verification to ensure designs accurately reflect existing conditions and project requirements. Key Responsibilities Coordinate with project engineers, coordinators, construction trades, and multidisciplinary team members throughout project execution. Develop accurate 2D and Revit drawing packages in accordance with established design standards. Verify, update, and draft chemical and mechanical plans, including: Piping layouts Equipment layouts Schedules Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) Create detailed piping plans showing pipe routing, instrumentation, valve locations, and equipment arrangements. Produce hook-up drawings for tool installation packages. Develop flow diagrams for gas-side and water-side systems, including HVAC, hydronics, and fire protection. Incorporate isometric views into design packages to support field installation. Create custom installation details for complex project components. Conduct field walks, site verifications, and punch-list inspections. Update existing systems to support design improvements, cost reductions, and manufacturability initiatives. Assist with vendor evaluations and review vendor submittals. Support engineering drafting, drawing reviews, drawing control, and documentation for engineered systems. Participate in code reviews and technical design discussions.
Prepare project deliverables including:
Models Plans Details Sections Flow diagrams P&IDs Sketches Equipment arrangement drawings Support engineering and design leads during meetings, proposal development, and construction documentation. Attend internal and external mechanical design meetings. Coordinate with other disciplines to resolve design conflicts and field conditions.
Required Qualifications:
3-15 years of progressive CAD drafting/design experience with process systems. Experience designing building mechanical systems within semiconductor or other high-tech manufacturing facilities . Strong understanding of applicable mechanical codes and industry standards. Ability to mentor junior designers and provide technical guidance. Experience estimating design effort and developing work plans.
Advanced proficiency with:
AutoCAD Revit Navisworks Ability to lead wet-side or dry-side mechanical design programs. Strong communication and coordination skills in a multidisciplinary environment.
Pay:
$36.00 - $46.00 per hour
