Lawrence Group is seeking design professionals to assist with our growing Higher Education project needs in our St. Louis office. This position will have the opportunity to contribute to the planning and design of higher education and student housing facilities. This position offers hands-on experience in all aspects of architecture, from conceptualization to construction documentation, under the guidance of senior architects and designers.The key responsibilities include:
Support senior architects and project managers in the planning and design of student housing and higher education projects. Assist in gathering and analyzing project requirements, site conditions, and regulatory constraints. Contribute to the development of design concepts and schematic drawings, incorporating evidence-based design principles and client feedback. Assist in the preparation of presentation materials, including renderings, diagrams, and 3D models, to communicate design ideas effectively to clients and stakeholders. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including engineers, consultants, and contractors, to integrate technical requirements and ensure design feasibility. Produce architectural drawings, plans, and elevations using AutoCAD, Revit, and other design software, following established standards and protocols. Conduct research on materials, products, and building systems to support design decisions and enhance project sustainability. Assist in the coordination of project documentation, including specifications, schedules, and construction details, to ensure accuracy and compliance with building codes and industry standards. Participate in site visits and inspections during construction phases to observe progress, address field issues, and assist with quality assurance. Stay informed about current trends, technologies, and best practices in higher education design and architecture, and contribute ideas for innovation and improvement.Qualifications:
Bachelor's or master's degree in architecture from an accredited institution. 5-10 years of experience in design and architecture. Licensure preferred. Demonstrated interest in higher education and student housing design and architecture, with coursework, internships, or relevant experience in the field. Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, Photoshop, Illustrator, Sketchup, and InDesign graphic software. Strong graphic and visualization skills, with the ability to communicate design ideas effectively through drawings, renderings, and presentations. Knowledge of basic architectural principles, building materials, and construction techniques. Excellent communication, collaboration, and time management skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment. Enthusiasm for learning and professional development, with a proactive approach to seeking feedback and expanding technical skills. Familiarity with higher education regulations, codes, and standards (e.g. ADA requirements) is a plus.Supervisory Responsibility:
This position has no supervisory responsibility. Work Environment This job operates in a professional office environment with hybrid schedule capability. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. Physical Demands This position requires no minimum ability to lift, bend or stand. Position Type and Expected Hours of Work This is a full-time position with typical Monday-Friday work schedule.
