Job Summary We are seeking a highly organized, technically skilled Part-Time Assistant Designer to support our residential interior design projects through detailed SketchUp modeling, LayOut documentation, and finish/specification schedules. This role is ideal for someone who is highly proficient in SketchUp and LayOut , works well independently, and is comfortable managing their own schedule while consistently meeting project deadlines. Hours will vary based on project needs, typically 5-20 hours per week , making this a great fit for someone looking for a flexible, project-based position. While the schedule is flexible, reliability, communication, and the ability to meet tight deadlines are essential. You will work closely with the Principal Designer to translate design concepts, architectural plans, site information, and markups into accurate, professional models and documentation for client presentations, builder coordination, and construction. Responsibilities Create and maintain detailed, accurate SketchUp models for residential interior design projects Produce professional, buildable documentation in SketchUp LayOut, including elevations, dimensions, details, callouts, and specifications Create and maintain room finish schedules, specification sheets, and project documentation Incorporate design revisions and markups accurately and efficiently Work from architectural drawings, field measurements, product specifications, and designer direction Independently manage assigned projects and workload to meet established deadlines Communicate proactively regarding questions, project status, or potential scheduling conflicts Maintain organized project files and documentation Assist with additional design documentation as project needs arise Required Experience & Skills Advanced proficiency in SketchUp Advanced proficiency in SketchUp LayOut Ability to create accurate, detailed, and organized construction/design documentation Previous experience working in residential interior design, architecture, cabinetry, or a related field Strong understanding of dimensions, scale, architectural drawings, and interior construction Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy Strong organizational and time-management skills Must be a self-starter who is comfortable working independently with minimal supervision Ability to manage a flexible schedule while consistently meeting tight deadlines Strong written and verbal communication skills Degree, certificate, or professional experience in Interior Design or a related field Preferred Qualifications Proficiency in CAD Experience taking on-site field measurements Experience creating as-built plans and documentation Experience creating finish schedules, specification binders, or construction documentation Familiarity with AI tools and using technology to improve workflow and productivity Adobe Creative Suite proficiency is a plus Position Details Part-time Approximately 5-20 hours per week, depending on project workload $50/hour Flexible schedule Project-based workload with occasional tight turnaround times We are a growing interior design studio committed to producing thoughtful, elevated residential interiors, and exceptionally detailed documentation for our clients and builder partners.
