We specialize in custom residential construction and are looking for someone who can take ideas from concept through construction-ready plans. This position will work closely with our clients, sales team, builder, and other members of our construction team to create homes that are both functional and thoughtfully designed. What You'll Do As our Architectural Designer / Drafter, you will be involved in both modifying our existing home plans and developing completely custom designs for our clients.
Responsibilities will include:
Modify and customize existing Arrow Ridge Homes floor plans based on client needs, lot conditions, and design preferences Create new custom residential floor plans from initial concept through construction documents Develop preliminary concepts and floor plan options for prospective and current clients Meet with clients to help turn their ideas, needs, and inspiration into workable home designs Prepare accurate architectural drawings and construction plan sets Create elevations, floor plans, roof plans, foundation plans, sections, and construction details Coordinate plan changes and revisions throughout the design process Work with engineering, estimating, construction, and permitting teams to ensure plans are buildable and accurate Help identify potential design or construction issues before plans reach the field Maintain organized plan files, revisions, and project documentation Balance multiple residential projects and meet established deadlines What We're Looking For We are looking for someone who understands residential construction—not just drafting software.Our ideal candidate has:
2-4 years of residential architectural drafting or design experience Experience creating plans for single-family residential construction Strong understanding of residential construction methods and building practices Ability to modify existing plans as well as design homes from a blank page Strong space-planning and problem-solving skills Ability to take a client's ideas and translate them into a practical, attractive home design Experience preparing construction-ready plan sets Strong attention to detail and accuracy Ability to communicate effectively with homeowners, builders, engineers, and other team members Ability to manage multiple projects and plan revisions at the same time A collaborative attitude and willingness to receive and incorporate feedback Software Experience Experience with professional residential design and drafting software is required. Experience with Revit, AutoCAD, Chief Architect is strongly preferred. Experience with 3D modeling and residential renderings is a plus.
