(ECI), a leading power engineering consultant firm, is seeking a motivated individual to join the team in our Salt Lake City (physically located in Woods Cross, UT) office as a designer. The successful candidate will be responsible for drafting and design support to design teams involved with the conceptual, preliminary, and final design of substation and transmission line projects, 34.5 kV through 500 kV. The successful candidates will work with engineers within the substation engineering group to create substation physical design drawing sets, diagrams, and other deliverables related to substation design; calculate cable lengths, define conduit requirements, specify materials, develop complete bill of materials, and create issued for construction drawing sets for all aspects of substation design; be able to teach and mentor other CADD users, delegating work to them and being responsible for the final product. Specifically this includes utilizing both AutoCAD and Microstation software to develop substation one-line drawings, site plans, foundation drawings, structure detail drawings, panel drawings, grading drawings, conduit plans, bus details, equipment specification details, electrical wiring and schematic diagrams, etc. The ability to learn, understand, and utilize a variety of client CADD standards is a must. All work will be performed under the direction of a project engineer and project manager. No supervisory or management duties are required.
Minimum Requirements:
College degree in an acceptable curriculum or two-year technical certificate in computer-aided drafting/design, and a minimum of five years experience in a CADD position related to the power delivery field or a minimum of eight years CADD designer experience if unrelated to power delivery. Proficient in AutoCAD and possess a strong computer aptitude in a Windows environment; MicroStation experience a plus. Proven effective verbal and written communication skills; proven excellent level of interpersonal skills; ability to work individually and on a team. Must be detail oriented and possess a high level of organizational skills. Proven ability to work with confidential information. Proven ability to exercise independent judgment. Successful applicants may be subject to client mandated drug and background checking. Occasional travel/driving will be required.
