In this role, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient installation, burial, and maintenance of fiber optic cables in outdoor environments. Your expertise will ensure the reliable delivery of high-speed internet and telecommunication services to residential and commercial customers. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work with cutting-edge fiber optic systems, heavy equipment, and technical troubleshooting tools, all while contributing to the expansion of vital network infrastructure. Responsibilities Operate heavy equipment such as excavators, trenchers to dig trenches and install fiber optic cables in outdoor settings. Install, splice, and terminate fiber optic cables according to industry standards and technical specifications. Use diagnostic tools and telecommunications testing equipment to verify proper system performance and troubleshoot issues in fiber networks. Interpret technical drawings, schematics, and installation diagrams to ensure accurate cable routing and placement. Perform telecommunications outside plant operations including cable pulling, splicing, and securing cables in accordance with the National Electrical Safety Code (NESC). Conduct climbing activities on utility poles or structures safely while adhering to safety protocols. Support telecommunications testing procedures for network integrity, including LAN (Local Area Network), WAN (Wide Area Network), Ethernet, telephony systems, and low voltage wiring. Skills Proven experience in field service operations involving fiber optic systems installation and maintenance. Will train with heavy equipment operation such as trenchers and bore machines. Will train for telecommunications cable splicing, fiber splicing techniques, and cabling practices. Problem-solving skills with a focus on technical troubleshooting support for fiber optic networks.
