Job Description
Location:
Gonzales /Salinas Valley, California Employment Type:
Full-time Salary:
$95,000-$115,000 per year About Mantis Mantis Ag Technology is an innovative agricultural technology company focused on developing advanced automation and precision material application services to improve efficiency, sustainability, and productivity in modern farming. Based in Gonzales, CA, we work at the intersection of agriculture and cutting-edge engineering to bring practical, scalable solutions to growers. Position Overview We are hiring an experienced mechatronics technician to help prototype, build, troubleshoot, and maintain equipment used in California and Arizona. This is a senior, hands-on role for someone with strong mechanical and electrical systems and troubleshooting skills who can also work through computer and software issues, share knowledge among teammates, and help improve how our service work is organized and documented. What You Will Do Diagnose mechanical, electronic, and basic software problems on machines in the shop and in the field to restore equipment to service quickly and safely. Assemble, wire, test, repair, and commission machines, subassemblies, harnesses, sensors, cameras, controls, and related field equipment. Work alongside the engineering team on development efforts, helping to design, build, and modify test platforms in the shop and field. Use schematics, instruments, service information, and a systematic troubleshooting process to isolate root causes rather than swapping parts without a diagnosis. Spearhead difficult troubleshooting efforts and work with engineers and technicians to reproduce failures, test prototypes and design changes, and document results from the shop and field. Support customers and field personnel in person and remotely, communicating clearly about symptoms, priorities, next steps, and repair status. Improve service records, standard operating procedures, parts usage, and inventory information using Microsoft Office tools. Travel independently to customer sites in California and Arizona and represent Mantis professionally in active agricultural environments. The seasonal nature of fresh vegetable production means you may spend up to a month in the Yuma and Imperial Valley areas during the winter. What We Are Looking For 7+ years of relevant hands-on experience with industrial, automotive, agricultural, or other complex electromechanical equipment. An associates degree or equivalent certification in mechatronics, electrical, mechanical, industrial, automotive, or agricultural technology is helpful but not required. Strong mechanical aptitude and experience troubleshooting automotive electrical systems, wiring, connectors, sensors, motors, or controls. Heavy-equipment or off-highway machinery experience is especially useful. Comfort with shop tools, fabrication, welding, machining, and hydraulics is required. Experience with CAN bus, embedded computer systems, or agricultural equipment is strongly preferred. Working knowledge of Windows computers and Microsoft Office, plus enough software and networking familiarity to gather logs, follow procedures, and help distinguish a hardware problem from a software problem. Sound judgment, organized work habits, clear written and verbal communication, and a record of taking ownership while keeping others informed. The ability and interest to share knowledge, coordinate work, improve processes, and take on responsibility when required. A valid driver's license, the ability to lift up to 55 pounds, and willingness to work outdoors around farm machinery and travel as field activity requires. Compensation and Benefits The annual salary range is $95,000 to $115,000, with eligibility for a performance-based year-end bonus. The starting offer will reflect relevant experience, technical breadth, and the scope at which the candidate can operate. Housing and per-diem are provided when traveling. Mantis offers a company vehicle , PTO, health, dental, and vision insurance, 401(k) with matched contributions, and opportunities to grow with a small cross-functional team.
