The full salary range for the Access Control Mechanic position is $45.07 - $50.75 per hour. We base salary offers on a variety of considerations, such as education, licensure and certifications, experience, and other business and organizational needs. Reporting to the Access Control & Fire Life and Safety Supervisor in the Facilities Services Maintenance Department, the Access Control Mechanic performs journey-level access control and locksmith services throughout the University of California, Riverside campus community. The Access Control Mechanic is responsible for installing, programming, troubleshooting, repairing, maintaining, inspecting, and monitoring various access systems and stand-alone networks. Provides security and access control support, including procedures for buildings, safes, and operational closures. Additionally, the Access Control Mechanic coordinates and communicates with campus customers to understand their needs and fulfill work order requests. Access control services may be performed indoors and outdoors throughout the campus. This position works closely and coordinates with other skilled trades in preparing the campus' new builds for launch and occupancy. The Access Control Mechanic is relied upon to respond to emergencies after hours, on weekends, and holidays. This job posting is for 2 openings on a 4/10 work schedule (4 days per week, 5:30am to 4:00pm, with a one half hour lunch). Required experience 4 years of journey-level experience in one or more of the trades involving access control or locksmithing, and/or completion of a certified apprenticeship training; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Required Hired candidate must pass a background check prior to appointment start date. required Required Ability to work with a diverse student, staff, faculty and visitor population and provide excellent customer service. Ability to read, write and perform basic arithmetic calculations. Ability to install, modify, repair and replace mechanical and electronic locking systems. Knowledge of ADA/Auto doors and related hardware. Ability to repair and/or replace mechanical door closers. Working knowledge of code requirements relating to building access and egress control devices. Knowledge and ability to program, troubleshoot and operate different types of access control systems and software with ability to repair and/or correct connectivity and operational issues. Knowledge and ability to install, modify, repair and replace a variety of networked access systems and stand-alone access systems. Ability to create and maintain interchangeable cores and multi-level master key systems, and cut keys; ability to re-core locks. Ability to communicate and work effectively with co-workers, supervisors, and the general public, and provide exceptional customer service. Knowledge of safe and proper procedures when hazardous materials are suspected. Ability to estimate time, methods and materials needed from construction documents. Ability to read and understanding documents such as complex technical procedures, work instructions, blue prints, plans, manuals, specifications, and diagrams. Ability to monitor and maintain surveillance systems and DVR systems to ensure proper functionality and recording with ability to pull video footage. Skill in using and maintaining of electrical and mechanical tools, test equipment, key cutting equipment, materials, and locksmithing hardware (electronic and mechanical). Ability to effectively communicate and understand safety regulations and hazards. Ability to follow verbal and written instructions. Ability and willingness to work weekends and holidays, occasional scheduled and unscheduled overtime, emergency call-back, and a flexible schedule as needed.
