Job Description
ob description Job Summary The Electronic Technician evaluates, assembles and maintains electronic assemblies and fixtures. This position does not design electronic equipment or systems but is expected to identify potential problems in the design of items they are working on under supervision. The Electronics Technician will take directions from the senior technician and the engineers when building and troubleshooting prototype designs and test fixtures. The technician may be responsible for building initial electronic or mechanical prototypes for testing. The technician will be responsible for testing items under the direction of the senior technician and engineers. Occasional trips to customer sites may be required to repair/update units. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Read and interpret blueprints, schematics and shop drawings/cut sheets. Conduct testing and experiments under supervision. Repair and modification of damaged boards, fixtures or equipment under supervision. PCB soldering and jumper wire installation. Create cable assemblies from a schematic and drawing. Assemble and disassemble systems as required. Participate in design reviews Qualifications and/or Experience High school diploma or equivalent required. 2-year technical degree or higher preferred, which may be replaced by an acceptable combination of education, training and experience. Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Basic knowledge of circuit/mechanical integration and troubleshooting, including: use and ownership of an oscilloscope, logic analyzer, multimeter, lab power supply, JTAG or in-circuit debugger. Organization and documentation skills. Ability to safely use, and interpret the use of, basic soldering and hand tools. Ability to work both independently as well as with a team. Ability to read schematics, assembly drawings, fabrication drawings and BOMs. 2 years of soldering experience with surface mount components Soldering certification desired. Must be comfortable climbing ladders up to 18 ft. Some travel required. Must be willing to travel within the U.S. Must be willing to accommodate customer scheduling, which may require installations or maintenance outside of normal business hours. Physical environmental factors of this position include those found in typical business office environment. Additionally, due to the technical installation component of this position, must be able to bend, stoop, crouch, stretch, climb, and otherwise manipulate in tight spaces. Requires use of general office equipment and personal computer equipment.
