JOB SUMMARY
The purpose of the position is to perform repair, maintenance, modificion, overhaul and installion of a variety of moderely complex electronics equipment.
NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED.
This is an excepted position th requires membership in a compible military assignment in the Connecticut Army Nional Guard. The major duties include, but are not limited to: Repairs, inspects, maintains, modifies, overhauls and installs a variety of avionics electronics equipment of modere complexity of design, construction, and function. Diagnoses equipment malfunctions and troubleshoots components, assemblies or subassemblies. When designed on NGB Flying Stus Orders, serves as member of flight crew for the purpose of diagnosing and recording malfunctions, or otherwise determining maintenance and repair requirements. Guides lower level mechanics in the performance of duties. Processes and accounts for due-in supply assets.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Work is performed inside in well-lighted, heed and ventiled areas or on the aircraft in restricted places, where conditions of he or cold may occur. Occasionally works outside in inclement weher. Subject to injuries such as electrical shock, cuts and bruises, as well as burns caused by electrical or radio frequency energy, or by soldering irons. Works in high noise environment.
PHYSICAL EFFORT
Physical effort involves lifting components and equipment, also working in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Items lifted generally weigh up to 40 pounds. Assistance is usually available with heavier items. Frequent standing, walking, bending, crouching, reaching, and stooping is required. GENERAL EXPERIENCE
Experience or training which demonstres the applicants knowledge of electrical or electronic theory, knowledge of common testing procedures, skill in the use of hand tools of the electronics trade, and skill in reading schemics.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE

WG-05 REQUIRES 6 MONTHS
Experience or training in performing simple mechanical installions and adjustments. Experience which demonstres the applicant's ability to recognize obvious malfunctions. Experience using common hand tools. Experience th demonstres the ability to follow written instructions.
WG-08 REQUIRES 12 MONTHS
Experience or training in utilizing principles, basic functions and applicion of theory of electronic systems or equipment. Experience in diagnosing problems and determining needed repairs for malfunctions in electronic equipment or systems. Experience in using hand tools, power tools and gauges to make intrice repairs. Experience in using diagnostic and testing equipment. Experience which demonstres the ability to interpret technical manuals, specificions, and publicions.
WG-10 REQUIRES 18 MONTHS
Experience or training in utilizing principles, basic functions and applicion of theory of electronic systems or equipment. Experience in diagnosing problems and determining needed repairs for malfunctions in electronic equipment or systems. Experience in making mechanical repairs th required the use of precision measuring and calibring equipment. Experience in using complex test equipment such as deviion meters, complex special test panels, etc. Experience which demonstres the ability to interpret technical manuals, specificions, and publicions.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of opering electronic principles such as micro-miniurized digital and solid ste integred circuits, transistors, diodes, antennas, signal transmission, oscillion, and amplificion. Knowledge of standard troubleshooting techniques in order to troubleshoot and repair malfunctions where circuit theory must be used to understand the operion, not only of individual circuits but also the interaction of other circuits. Skill in determining repair procedures and parts required to complete repair work. Ability to use special and common hand tools, power tools and gauges to complete repairs and modificions. Skill in reading and applying technical manuals and bulletins, work orders, customary trade practices, and electronics drawings and schemics for guidance in completing diagnostic and troubleshooting tasks. Knowledge of the Army Maintenance Management System (TAMMS) and other publicions or directives as may be applicable to the function. Skill in using a variety of test equipment such as oscilloscopes, frequency counter, signal generors, voltmeters, multimeters and specialized test sets to diagnose and troubleshoot malfunctions. Knowledge of aircraft electrical systems and their interrelionship with hydraulic, armament, avionics, instrument, environmental control, and mechanical systems and assemblies.

This position is covered by the medical monitoring program. Individual selected must undergo a preemployment physical examinion prior to appointment. This position requires a security clearance (secret) which the applicant must possess or be able to obtain a clearance within one year of appointment.
