Job Title:
EV Technician Job Description The EV Vehicle Technician will support electric vehicle development and validation activities by maintaining development fleets, supporting prototype vehicles, and enabling successful vehicle testing programs. This role works closely with engineering teams to prepare vehicles for testing, perform repairs and modifications, install instrumentation, and provide technical support both in-house and at external test locations. Responsibilities Diagnose and resolve vehicle system issues, perform maintenance and repair activities on electric vehicles, ensuring all work meets manufacturer and regulatory standards. Install and maintain vehicle instrumentation, test equipment, and wiring required for development and validation testing. Support prototype vehicle builds, system modifications, parts replacement, and test evaluations. Maintain accurate documentation for vehicle work, service records, parts, tools, and testing equipment. Help keep the workshop clean, organized, and compliant with safety requirements, ensuring tools and equipment are properly maintained. Support test vehicle operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and emergency response for urgent system issues to ensure uninterrupted testing activities during field testing, which requires travel to test sites across the United States. Essential Skills Minimum 2 years of experience as a diagnostic technician, primarily on EV or hybrid vehicles. Experience with automotive wiring harnesses. Experience with vehicle diagnostics and testing equipment. Ability to read, interpret, and maintain technical documentation and service records. Understanding of system design and validation processes. Work Environment The position includes significant field testing support, requiring travel to test sites across the United States, with 50-80% travel. The role involves working both in-house and at external test locations, demanding a high level of technical expertise and flexibility in a dynamic and challenging environment. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Ypsilanti, MI. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $35.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
