The Biomedical Technician (Senior Representative) produces high-quality pre-operative surgical plans by transforming CT scan data into accurate 3D anatomical bone models used in robotically assisted total hip and total knee replacement procedures. This role focuses on precise segmentation, plan creation, and documentation while consistently meeting team and department production targets on a fast-paced 2nd shift schedule. Responsibilities
- Create new case records using a proprietary case management system, ensuring all required information is accurately entered.
- Review CT scans for conformity to established surgical protocols and quality standards before processing.
- Segment CT scans using specialized software to generate detailed 3D anatomical bone models for use in robotic surgery.
- Develop pre-operative surgical plans based on digital bone models for robotically assisted total hip and total knee replacement procedures.
- Evaluate CT segmentations and surgical plans to confirm accurate anatomical landmark selection, implant sizing, and implant positioning.
- Upload completed pre-operative plans to field-based personnel in a timely and accurate manner.
- Document all activities and workflow steps according to prescribed methods, procedures, and work instructions.
- Follow detailed work instructions exactly to deliver consistent, high-quality output and support standardized processes.
- Maintain a strong focus on individual production performance to help the team and department meet overall production targets.
- Apply efficient work methods to manage multiple cases and tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
- Communicate effectively with colleagues and stakeholders to resolve issues and ensure clarity on case requirements.
- Demonstrate a customer service-oriented approach when interacting with internal and external partners. Essential Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent education.
- Minimum of 2 years of work experience, or equivalent education at the Associate's degree level or above.
- Ability to review CT scans for protocol conformity and quality prior to segmentation.
- Proficiency in segmenting CT scans using specialized software to create 3D anatomical bone models.
- Capability to create accurate pre-operative surgical plans for robotically assisted total hip and total knee replacement.
- Strong attention to detail in verifying anatomical landmarks, implant sizing, and implant positioning.
- Ability to follow detailed work instructions exactly and adhere to prescribed methods and procedures.
- Demonstrated customer service orientation when supporting field-based personnel and internal stakeholders.
- Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills, including clear spoken and written English.
- Demonstrated ability to work efficiently and handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in English for speaking and reading.
- Visual ability to view and distinguish between a variety of colors on a computer screen.
- Visual acuity of 20/20 vision with or without assistive devices such as prescription glasses or contact lenses. Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Background or education in biology, biological sciences, or biomedical engineering.
- Experience working with CT scans and X-rays, or related imaging modalities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience with Salesforce or Materialize MIMICS software is considered a plus.
- Knowledge of Adobe Photoshop is considered an advantage.
- Certifications or related experience in radiology, including CT, X-ray, or MRI.
- Certification in nursing or a related healthcare field.
- Completion of college-level anatomy coursework.
- Strong general computer skills and comfort working with specialized imaging and planning software.
