At the Valpak Clipp Manufacturing Center, Advanced Industrial Maintenance Technicians play a critical role in maintaining and troubleshooting highly automated manufacturing equipment. This position combines advanced electrical knowledge, mechanical troubleshooting expertise, automation controls experience, and continuous improvement efforts to minimize downtime and maximize equipment performance. You'll troubleshoot and repair complex mechanical, electrical, electronic, software, and hardware issues affecting highly automated production equipment. You'll perform preventative maintenance, diagnose failures, support production teams, and help identify opportunities to improve equipment performance and reliability. You'll work closely with production personnel, vendors, and fellow maintenance technicians while continuing to expand your technical expertise. What You'll Do Troubleshoot and repair complex mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and control system issues. Diagnose equipment failures using schematics, technical manuals, PLC ladder logic, vendor resources, and advanced troubleshooting techniques. Minimize equipment downtime through rapid response and effective problem resolution. Operate and utilize testing equipment, including multimeters, ammeters, insulation testers (Meggers), dial indicators, laptop computers, and human-machine interfaces (HMIs). Perform preventative and predictive maintenance activities throughout the facility. Generate, update, and complete maintenance work orders within the SAP maintenance management system. Support equipment utilizing PLCs, HMIs, variable frequency drives (VFDs), motors, conveyors, and other automated control systems. Assist with equipment upgrades, installations, and continuous improvement initiatives. Follow all Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), confined space, and plant safety procedures. Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation. Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned. What We're Looking For The ideal candidate: Enjoys troubleshooting complex electrical and mechanical systems. Has strong analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities. Qualifications Associate degree in electrical or electronic engineering technology, vocational training, military certification, or a minimum of five years of progressively advanced industrial maintenance experience. Advanced knowledge of electrical systems, PLCs, HMIs, variable frequency drives (VFDs), and industrial control systems. Strong mechanical aptitude and advanced troubleshooting experience. Ability to interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, technical drawings, and PLC ladder logic. Experience working with preventative maintenance systems and computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS), preferably SAP. Previous experience within the printing, direct-mail, packaging, or manufacturing industries is preferred. Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office applications. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Physical Requirements & Work Environment This position is performed in a clean, climate-controlled manufacturing facility.
Candidates must be able to:
Lift and move materials weighing up to 50 pounds. Work around automated industrial equipment and moving machinery. Safely operate power tools and machine shop equipment. Work from ladders, scissor lifts, and boom lifts at heights up to 30 feet. Occasionally work in confined spaces. Work in a manufacturing environment where hearing protection is required. Supply personal standard and metric hand tools (specialty tools are provided by the company).
