Summary The Automation Equipment Operator operates, monitors, and maintains highly automated production equipment within an advanced EV battery manufacturing facility. This role ensures the safe and efficient operation of automation systems while performing preventive maintenance and basic troubleshooting to support continuous production. The Automation Equipment Operator responds to equipment alarms, conducts routine inspections, maintains operational records, and partners with engineers and technicians to improve equipment reliability. Responsibilities Operate and oversee automated equipment in accordance with operational manuals and safety standards Classify and respond to minor and major alarms, resolving issues directly on-site when possible Perform immediate safety checks and shut down equipment when necessary Support troubleshooting of automation systems, including PLCs, sensors, and robots, and escalate issues as needed Conduct routine inspections and basic preventive maintenance, including cleaning, lubrication, and part replacement Identify recurring issues and collaborate with engineers and technicians to reduce unnecessary alarms Record and maintain detailed logs of equipment operation, alarms, maintenance activities, and downtime Follow established SOPs for equipment care, safety compliance, and clean room requirements Participate in cross-training, mentoring, and team meetings to support continuous improvement Maintain regular and reliable on-site attendance Maintain cleanliness at work-site in accordance with 5S3R Standards (Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain; Right Location, Right Quantity, Right Container) Perform other duties as assigned Qualifications High School Diploma or GED required Vocational certificate or Associate degree preferred Experience 1+ years of manufacturing, automation equipment operation, or technical production work preferred Automotive battery or secondary cell production experience a plus Experience responding to equipment alarms or performing basic preventive maintenance preferred Demonstrated reliable work history and consistent attendance in prior employment Sponsorship This position is not eligible for employment-based visa sponsorship, now or in the future. Skills Ability to classify and respond to equipment alarms effectively Basic understanding of automation systems, including PLCs, sensors, and robots Competence with computer systems and the ability to complete production and maintenance logs Ability to maintain focus and attention to detail while monitoring automated equipment in a continuous production environment Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment Physical Requirements Must be able to properly and regularly utilize the following PPE for periods of up to 12 hours: safety glasses, steel-toed shoes, nitrile gloves, ear protection, and cleanroom suit Must be able to repeatedly lift, push, and pull materials or equipment for periods of up to 12 hours Must be able to repeatedly stoop, twist, and bend for periods of up to 12 hours Must be able to repeatedly reach overhead for periods of up to 12 hours Must be able to stand, walk, and move throughout production areas for extended periods Must be able to sit and/or stand for extended periods Must be able to use hands and fingers to operate tools, equipment, and computer systems Work Environment Work is performed in a climate-controlled manufacturing environment, including production and clean room areas Work may involve handling or working in proximity to hazardous materials and regulated industrial chemicals Exposure to chemical vapors, dust, or other controlled substances may occur depending on process assignment Strict adherence to company safety policies and OSHA Hazard Communication requirements is mandatory Employees must properly wear and maintain assigned personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times within designated areas Required PPE may include respirators, chemical-resistant garments, gloves, eye protection, face shields, or other equipment determined by process and risk assessment
