Job Description
Fiber Splicer $25-$40 an hour Job Description As a Fiber Splicer, you will perform fusion splicing on both single-mode and multi-mode fiber optic cables. You will be responsible for installing, routing, organizing, and terminating fiber cables in various enclosures, panels, and cabinets. You will also conduct comprehensive fiber testing using OTDR, OLTS, and other equipment to ensure network performance meets industry standards. Responsibilities Perform fusion splicing on single-mode and multi-mode fiber optic cables. Install, route, organize, and terminate fiber cables in enclosures, panels, cabinets, and related infrastructure. Conduct fiber testing using OTDR, OLTS, and other testing equipment to verify network performance. Troubleshoot and repair fiber issues, including signal loss, damaged fibers, and connector faults. Read and update splice diagrams, cable records, test reports, and as-built documentation. Coordinate with supervisors, project teams, and customers to meet project schedules and quality standards. Maintain accurate splice records, test results, daily reports, and equipment logs. Inspect and maintain tools, vehicles, and testing equipment. Follow all company and site-specific safety requirements, including PPE and hazard reporting. Essential Skills Fiber fusion splicing and termination experience. Proficient with OTDR, OLTS, power meters, and fiber testing equipment. Ability to read fiber schematics, splice diagrams, and construction drawings. Experience troubleshooting fiber optic networks and resolving signal-loss issues. Strong attention to detail with documentation and recordkeeping. Knowledge of safety procedures and PPE requirements. Ability to work in data centers, outside plant, and construction environments. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Cedar Rapids, IA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $40.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
