We are currently seeking a skilled Field Service Technician to join our team and ensure our customers' automated packaging systems operate at peak performance. As a Field Service Technician , you will play a key role in troubleshooting, installing, maintaining, and repairing various end-of-line packaging machinery. This role involves up to 50% travel, both locally and nationally, providing a dynamic and hands-on experience.Key Responsibilities:
Troubleshooting & Problem Solving :
Diagnose and resolve operational issues with automated packaging machinery by tracing electrical schematics to identify root causes of electrical failures. This critical skill ensures efficient repairs and minimizes downtime at customer sites.Training & Support :
Educate customers and in-house personnel on machine setup, operation, maintenance, and repair to ensure long-term success.Mechanical & Electrical Repairs :
Independently perform repairs and modifications on mechanical and electrical systems.Documentation :
Use cloud-based software to log detailed reports on work completed, outstanding repairs, and machine performance, including clear punch lists of open issues.Collaboration :
Work closely with OEM vendors to identify root causes and procure parts as needed to resolve issues in a timely manner.Communication :
Maintain regular communication with the Technical Service office to provide updates on job status, delays, and troubleshooting challenges. Escalate issues as needed to the Technical Service Manager.In-House Work :
Support our in-house team with equipment repairs and refurbishing when field service work is not required.Customer Relations :
Build strong relationships with customers to ensure the highest levels of satisfaction.Stay Current :
Keep up to date with all brands of packaging machinery and emerging technologies to enhance your expertise.Team Interaction :
Collaborate with Customer Service, Parts, Sales, and Marketing teams to deliver exceptional results and customer satisfaction.Professionalism :
Represent Best Packaging with integrity, professionalism, and a commitment to excellence in all interactions with customers, distributors, and suppliers.Qualifications:
Education :
High school diploma required; technical training or college coursework is a plus.Experience :
At least 3 years of experience in repairing or troubleshooting industrial packaging or automation equipment, with preference given to candidates with packaging equipment experience. Experience reading and interpreting electrical schematics to identify and resolve complex electrical issues is a strong requirement for this role.Technical Skills :
Advanced Troubleshooting :
Strong ability to read, trace, and troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic diagrams.Electrical Control Panel Expertise :
In-depth knowledge of all components that make up an electrical control panel is required, including, but not limited to, relays, contactors, PLCs, VFDs, motor starters, fuses, and circuit breakers. The ability to understand, diagnose, and repair issues related to these components is a critical part of the role.Multimeter Proficiency :
Skilled in diagnosing electrical circuits and components using a multimeter. Allen-Bradley PLC knowledge is highly preferred.Travel :
Must be willing to travel both locally and nationally.Communication :
