Electronics Technician /
Microelectronics Soldering Technician Location:
Columbia City, IN Schedule:
Choice of 9/80 schedule or four 10-hour shifts
Pay:
$43-$47/hr
DOE Duration:
Long-term contract, minimum 6 months, with potential for permanent opportunity
Citizenship:
U.S. Citizenship required; must be eligible to obtain a security clearance We are urgently seeking an experienced Electronics Technician with strong hands-on experience in microelectronics soldering, PCB rework and component-level troubleshooting. This position supports sophisticated electronic systems and prototypes used in defense applications. Candidates must be comfortable completing an onsite soldering test as part of the interview process. Travel assistance for the soldering test may be considered for highly qualified candidates. Responsibilities Perform precision soldering of microelectronic components and primarily SMT circuit boards Build, assemble, wire and test electronic systems, modules and prototypes Perform PCB rework and repair at the component level Conduct electrical testing, data collection and troubleshooting Use digital multimeters, oscilloscopes and analog/digital test equipment Perform verification, validation and functional testing according to engineering procedures Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, BOMs and engineering drawings Construct cables and support electronic/electromechanical assemblies Install product firmware/software as required Document test results, configurations and system setups Work closely with electrical, mechanical and systems engineering teams Support occasional travel of up to 15% Requirements U.S. Citizen and eligible to obtain a security clearance Associate or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering Technology (EET) or related technical discipline Strong hands-on microelectronics soldering experience Experience soldering SMT components Experience with J-STD workmanship requirements PCB rework experience 4+ years of experience using digital meters, oscilloscopes and other electronic test equipment 4+ years of experience troubleshooting electronics/electromechanical systems to the component level Ability to read schematics, wiring diagrams and engineering documentation Experience with cable construction Microsoft Office proficiency Ability to successfully complete an onsite soldering test Preferred
