Job Summary We are seeking a skilled and motivated Controls Engineer to join our manufacturing team in Fairland, Indiana. In this role, you will program, troubleshoot, and improve industrial automation systems, including Allen-Bradley PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, and automated production equipment. This position offers an excellent balance of hands-on troubleshooting and engineering projects, with approximately 50% of your time spent on the production floor and 50% on project work. Enjoy a consistent Monday-Friday schedule with little to no routine overtime while taking ownership of controls improvements, equipment upgrades, and automation projects. Responsibilities Program, troubleshoot, and modify Allen-Bradley/Rockwell PLCs using Studio 5000 and RSLogix. Develop and troubleshoot PLC ladder logic, HMIs, VFDs, and servo systems. Diagnose electrical and controls-related equipment failures and perform root-cause analysis. Support automated manufacturing equipment, including coating lines, slitters, conveyors, and packaging systems. Lead controls improvements, equipment upgrades, retrofits, and commissioning projects. Troubleshoot industrial networks, sensors, motors, drives, and safety systems. Collaborate with Maintenance, Engineering, and Production to improve equipment reliability and minimize downtime. Experience 3+ years of industrial controls, automation, or related manufacturing experience. Hands-on Allen-Bradley/Rockwell PLC programming and troubleshooting experience. Ability to independently modify PLC ladder logic, not just troubleshoot or reset faults. Experience with PLC/HMI systems, VFDs, and industrial electrical troubleshooting. Ability to read electrical schematics and diagnose complex equipment failures. Experience supporting automated manufacturing equipment.
