Fiber Splicer Apex Indianapolis, IN Job Details Full-time $25 - $30 an hour 14 hours ago Benefits Dental insurance 401(k) Paid time off Vision insurance Qualifications Truck handling Trailer towing Driver's License Power tools Hand tools Full Job Description Job Summary We are seeking an experienced and dependable Fiber Splicing Technician to support the installation, splicing, testing, maintenance, and restoration of aerial and underground fiber optic networks. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with fusion splicing, fiber termination, testing equipment, troubleshooting, and fiber construction practices. This position requires strong attention to safety and quality, the ability to interpret construction documentation, and flexibility to travel away from home for extended periods as project needs require. Key Responsibilities Install, splice, and maintain aerial and underground fiber cable plant in accordance with applicable standards, industry codes, and safety requirements. Perform fiber splicing, fusion splicing, and terminations to maintain signal integrity and system reliability. Test fiber using OTDRs, power meters, light sources, and other applicable testing equipment. Troubleshoot fiber optic issues and perform restoration work as required. Install and maintain splice closures, cabinets, fiber enclosures, grounding, and bonding systems. Read and interpret construction prints, splice diagrams, work orders, engineering specifications, and related project documentation. Perform quality inspections on completed construction work to verify compliance with plant acceptance standards. Support network rebuilds, upgrades, and construction projects designed to modernize and expand existing fiber infrastructure. Properly inspect, maintain, and warehouse construction tools, equipment, and materials in accordance with company standards. Follow all applicable safety regulations and safe work practices, including the use of required personal protective equipment (PPE). Physical & Work Requirements Ability to safely work in aerial and underground environments and around energized systems. Ability to work with advanced hand tools, power tools, fiber testing equipment, and alignment tools. Ability to work under pressure, meet project deadlines, and maintain a professional and positive attitude. Ability and willingness to travel away from home for extended periods as assigned by the company. Ability to operate a truck and trailer. Valid driver's license with a clean driving record. Experience Hands-on experience with fiber optic installation, fusion splicing, termination, testing, troubleshooting, and restoration. Experience using fiber and telecommunications testing equipment, including OTDR and related equipment. Knowledge of applicable industry and safety standards, including NEC, NESC, and OSHA requirements. Ability to read and follow splice diagrams, construction prints, work orders, engineering specifications, and related paperwork. Experience working with fiber closures, cabinets, enclosures, grounding, and bonding systems. OSHA 30 certification preferred. Knowledge or experience with ODM, PIM, Anritsu, OTDR, or similar testing equipment is preferred. Why Join Us? Pay:
$25.00 - $30.00 per hour
