Designer I- $31.96/hr
- $37.59/hr
- depending upon experience
JOB OBJECTIVE
Involved in applications of engineering fundamentals to engineering design. Selects and recommends procedures in design and prepares preliminary designs for engineer's approval. Works independently on design projects in support of design engineer and will often coordinate drawing efforts on projects. Provides technical support working in such areas as research, design, drafting, or related engineering fields. This is a full-time, non-exempt position.JOB REQUIREMENTS
Must be PC literate and have working knowledge of AutoCAD, AutoCAD Civil 3D, GIS (ESRI ArcMAP Desktop), Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel, and Outlook, Adobe Acrobat/PDF Editor or Bluebeam. Performs standardized or prescribed assignments involving a sequence of related operations. Follows standard work methods on recurring assignments; receives explicit instructions on unfamiliar assignments. Evolving to a designer who performs assignments that are not completely standardized or prescribed. Selects or adapts standard procedures or equipment, using precedents that are not fully applicable. Performs work independently and may direct efforts of less experienced staff. Must have a knowledge and ability to perform Engineering formulas and calculations. Must have knowledge of utility design with a proficiency in at least 1 utility to include water/wastewater, fiber optic/cable, gas, or electric. Including utility layout, sizing, and site grading. Must have working knowledge of engineering plotters, printers, and Xerox copiers. Must have a valid driver's license.EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
High school diploma or equivalent required. Associate's degree in Engineering Technology, Drafting, or a related field required. Minimum of four (4) years of relevant experience required, including at least three (3) years as a Draftsperson, GIS/CAD Technician, or in a similar role.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Must be physically capable for fieldwork in all weather conditions, which would include but not limited to walking, climbing, driving stakes, lifting, and digging. Must wear proper PPE when required.JOB FAMILY AND HIRING RANGES

- $37.59/hr; depending upon experience Designer II
